Mo Younger's exposé

Maureen Younger/Laughing Horse Free Festival Review

It takes a certain kind of woman to perform stand-up in front of her mother - or a certain type of mother - and I think in this case the word for both might be 'feisty'. This is only a short show, billed at half an hour, but with about ten minutes devoted to welcoming stragglers into the fold, perhaps to the detriment of the show, but to the benefit of the friendly atmosphere. Maureen tells of her mother's escapades with muggers and her own devious ploy to get seats on buses, as well as the "gentleman caller" who made her "howl like a hound". For all that this show deals primarily with Maureen's sex life, it's not crude, just engaging and funny.

Hackney Empire finalist and regular BBC Radio panellist, Maureen Younger, will be performing her first one woman show this year as part of the Laughing Horse Free Fringe Festival (www.freefestival.co.uk)

Maureen Younger's One-Woman Show Hits Edinburgh

Offering her rather individual take on life, love, commuting and everything in between, her subjects range from the joys of sex with younger men as well as having a mad Scottish mother with a penchant for beating up teenage muggers in Moscow to more practical advice such as using pseudo pregnancy to ensure a seat on the London tube in rush hour!

A regular MC at The Cock Tavern alongside headline acts such as Adam Bloom, Robin Ince and Shazia Mirza, Maureen has also performed warm up in English & Spanish and English & French as part of a prize winning groundbreaking radio drama season The Works; and has been known to surprise the odd unsuspecting German audience member by suddenly accosting them in fluent Viennese German!London Scot, Maureen Younger, is frank, fast and feisty - engaging humour with attitude, as she enlightens the audience with a refreshing exposé on the joys and tribulations of being a more “mature” female.  Being 'head and shoulders talentwise above others with a peach of a delivery' (MGCK), her 'polished set' (Inside Comedy) and 'sharp humour brings interesting new perspectives to the stage' (Hackney Empire).

You can see Maureen Younger’s show at the Jekyll & Hyde, 112 Hanover Street from 31st July - 14th August at 14:20.
